Thanks to Martin County’s General Services Department for their care and craftsmanship in relocating Silent Sounds of Service by artist Gary Gresko to its new home at Fire Station 21 in the Old Palm City CRA!

As part of Martin County’s Art in Public Places collection, this powerful sculptural wind chime features five suspended bells representing the five branches of the United States military, each incorporating authentic military artifacts that accompanied service members during times of conflict. The interiors of the bells are painted red, symbolizing the commitment carried within those who serve, while sculptural epaulets above reference ceremonial traditions of honor and recognition.

Though shaped like a wind chime, the piece is intentionally silent—inviting reflection on service, remembrance, and the often-unspoken contributions of military members and their families.
