2MC Podcast Eps 87 - Super Charger Super Power!
00:00:05:26 - 00:00:31:16
Speaker 1
Hey, everybody. I'm Mac and I'm Courtney. Welcome back to two MC. We had a board meeting and a public hearing for the budget. We did. So we've got a lot to talk about. We do? The fire prevention week is next week. Yes. October 4th. It's October 10th. And, they kind of just a little couple fun facts for you.
00:00:31:17 - 00:01:00:02
Speaker 1
Yes. So our fire rescue department responds to an average of 100 emergencies a day. It's pretty incredible to think about just our population and then the number of emergencies that they're responding to every day. Every single day. So they're working hard. They are. Yeah. And, fire prevention week. The theme of this is a topic that we have discussed multiple times.
00:01:00:03 - 00:01:20:17
Speaker 1
We have our podcast and I have changed. I kid ways. I have to like every time I leave the house, I'm like, unplug, unplug. Yes. I'm like, we cannot leave that charge in there. No. So it's safe. Charging is a superpower. So basically, we have superpowers now. Right. Because we are safe charging now. I know, I love that.
00:01:20:18 - 00:01:49:00
Speaker 1
Yeah. And it's just kind of to educate everyone on the how to use lithium ion batteries. Yeah. Cheeks. And it's, because they can cause fires, and it's a good. They do cause fires. So true. We want to reduce the risk. So yes. Learning how to safely charge. Yeah. So we'll be looking for more information and education coming out from fire risk next week.
00:01:49:03 - 00:02:15:20
Speaker 1
And always they do a good job of educating public on on safety. Yeah. But specifically on this topic. Yeah. I would definitely check out their Facebook page because they do have a lot of, a lot of information and topics that the community should know. Yeah. Yeah. What else? We had Michael Kennedy, the fine commissioner for Martin County representing Martin County in the House.
00:02:15:22 - 00:02:40:26
Speaker 1
Yes. After day or this week? Yes. And handing over a reimbursement check? Yes. For our the removal of derelict vessels. Yeah. That's what we should have somebody on to talk about that. Because I think that's such an interesting program. And probably a lot of folks don't know about it, but we have a lot of derelict vessels, and they cause, you know, safety hazards.
00:02:41:00 - 00:03:04:16
Speaker 1
It's safety and environmental. Yes. You know, like, it's both aspects. And so it is important that we have that. So it's awesome that we got our reimbursement check for that. Yeah. Yes. What else do we talk about. Affordable housing committee appointments. Took place yesterday. So that's always a I mean that's a topic of interest all around the country.
00:03:04:23 - 00:03:27:06
Speaker 1
Yes. And we always have openings and stuff for committees and boards. So if you guys are ever interested we have, we should drop the link to that page in our show notes. We'll drop it down there. Okay. Cool. Our fire rescue department did come before the board to request some new apparatuses. So there was a good discussion about that.
00:03:27:06 - 00:03:49:25
Speaker 1
And I think, Chief Cianciulli was here. Matt Rush, their financial officer, and just talked about the length of time. For ordering those trucks, they're not it's not like, you know, when we go to buy a car, right. You don't leave the same day with the car. No. They were explaining that there's a four year wait time.
00:03:49:26 - 00:04:12:25
Speaker 1
So once you've placed that order, the customization and everything, it's a for a four year time. They're building it for what your community needs are. Yes. And it's also like the tools, like it's not just a a vehicle. No. Stop with the things is needed. So much more in there. So yeah, it was actually a really fascinating discussion.
00:04:12:25 - 00:04:45:28
Speaker 1
I think, into the, the needs of the department and just community in the community. Yeah, yeah. Because just like we talked about, they're serving our community. Yes. So what else do we have? Oh. Public hearing. Right. Adopt like it was adopted. An ordinance amending chapter 163, articles two and three. Courtney. And that's for the health care for the indingents and general ordinances.
00:04:45:28 - 00:05:13:11
Speaker 1
Martin County code. Yeah. And it was necessary to do that to comply with a change made by the Florida Legislature. Right. Yes. So nice house Bill 4007, I think. Wow. Yeah. That's amazing. I don't know how you knew that. Yeah. Okay. And then we also had a quasi judicial. Wow. My words are a hard judicial hearing. Thank you.
00:05:13:13 - 00:05:37:22
Speaker 1
Yeah, there was a member of the public, that was, talking with the board about the denial of a building permit. And so the board had a discussion, there was a discussion that took place, and they remanded the permit and sent it back to staff to work with the resident based on some new information that was discovered.
00:05:37:25 - 00:06:09:06
Speaker 1
Nice. Yeah. And then there was an adoption of a resolution amending the comp plan. Right. Our comprehensive planning and growth management development review fee. Just kidding. Yes. Not comp plan. Not the comp plan. It was the fee schedules. Yep. Yeah. So it's for the review of the agricultural enclave certification requests and all that. The applications that come through with that and that process.
00:06:09:08 - 00:06:20:05
Speaker 1
So that was a new, Senate bill last year, I think. And so it just we needed to add that to our fee schedule. Nice. Yeah. Getting after it.
00:06:20:08 - 00:06:23:09
Speaker 2
And then we had our final budget hearing.
00:06:23:11 - 00:06:31:09
Speaker 1
Yes. Final budget hearing. It was the second of two. Two. Second of two. And the final. Final? Yes.
00:06:31:16 - 00:06:32:28
Speaker 2
For the public hearings.
00:06:33:00 - 00:06:39:27
Speaker 1
Yeah. So they moved through it pretty efficiently. So should we have.
00:06:39:29 - 00:06:41:00

00:06:46:18 - 00:06:57:13
Speaker 1
I think there's going to be like this neon sign. No. Maybe not. We'll see what it's like. Post-production. Yeah. Anyway, watch the budget hearing.
00:06:57:14 - 00:07:01:23
Speaker 2

00:07:01:26 - 00:07:05:22
